This Month in Wine - Featuring the Incredible Red

So I am going to start writing about new love for Wine and Beer. I just recently set up my mini fridge in my dorm so I can start stocking it with beer and wine. My first wine was a recommendation from the guy working at the Wine Shop. I wasn’t sure where I should start with wine. I know that I am fan of both red and white wines. But I am little bit more fond of the red’s. So with that, the guy working pointed me to Peachy Canyon’s Incredible Red, which is a Zinfandel. And like the name says, it was pretty incredible.
About Peachy Canyon
Peachy Canyon is a small winery located in Paso Robles, Cali. Its run by Doug and Nancy Beckett. After years of teaching the moved out to Paso Robles looking for a better life and a little change of scenery. They started out with a small load of Zinfandel grapes from Benito Dusi’s vineyard in 1988. And life has never been the same since. Though only amounting to a couple hundred cases, the premiere release centered the label’s reputation for premium red wines. But with reputation growing bigger and bigger every year, they will be producing 84,000 cases, their largest production yet.
The Wine
Incredible Red is dark ruby in color, with bright reddish-orange glints. Light red-berry aromas are pleasant but surprisingly subtle. Good mouthfeel, tart, zingy fruit, definitely styled to go with food, with appropriately strong but not overpowering 13.9% alcohol. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky, with moderate fine tannins. Red fruit, sweet baking spice, pepper and herbs are backed with nice acidity and carry forward to an easy finish. Definitely a bottle that I will keep on hand. I highly recommended this to any wine lover out there.
